Angelique Kidjo Reveals She’s From Oyo, Nigeria

Multiple Grammy Award-winning African music legend, Angelique Kidjo, has revealed that she has Nigerian lineage.

In an interview with Smooth FM in Lagos State, Angelique Kidjo said her mother told her that growing as a child, she had Nigerian background at Iseyin, Oyo State, to be precise.

The musical goddess revealed she has a lot of relatives in Nigeria.

“My Mum told me that I am from Iseyin because when my grandfather’s great great great great father came back from Brazil, they found their roots in Iseyin.

“From my mother’s mother’s side, we have always been from Nigeria. So we have families in Abeokuta. Ibadan, Lagos, everywhere, I have cousins I haven’t seen a million years that I miss a lot,” the legend said.
