Burna Boy Finally Reacts to Davido calling Him a "New Cat"
Grammy-winning artiste, Burna Boy, has finally made a statement in relation to Davido calling him a new cat in an interview, some weeks back.

The renowned Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer, says he doesn’t mind that he’s considered a novice to the music business; in fact, he sees it as a benefit.

He talks about what it means to be referred to as a “new cat” in the music business, saying it gives him a longer lifespan in the industry.

The superstar, whose first studio album L.I.F.E. was released in 2013, was a longtime underdog in the Nigerian music scene, and recent remarks made by Davido, sets off a frenzy.

Recall that Davido talked openly about the first two Nigerian musicians that popularized the afrobeat genre in a Brut Afrique interview. He explained further that the “new cats,” like Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, and many more, had pushed the wave to the next level, citing himself and Wizkid as the movement’s founders.

On social media, the remark sparked a discussion on whether Burna could be considered a “new cat.” Burna Boy’s sister, Nissi, even responded to Davido’s remark, while the older brother himself remained silent.

The Afro-fusion singer, who recently made history by selling out the 41,000-seat Citi Field stadium in New York and became the first African musician to headline a stadium event in the UK, also went out to sell out the 60,000-seat London Stadium.

Burna Boy made the first mention of the “new cat” discussion in an interview with Ebro Darden to preview the live performance, which is currently available to Apple Music subscribers in more than 165 countries.

According to Burna, having a reputation as a beginner to the field offers him more time to work and longevity in the music industry.
