Michael Oluwabusayo Akinleye, better known by his stage name, SLY is a Nigerian musician, songwriter, and creative artist, who was born in Mushin, Lagos on the 21st of December.
SLY was born in Papa Ajao, Mushin, Lagos on a Thursday. He attended D. I. Prague Private School for his primary studies, and Nigeria Premier College for his secondary school. He moved on to the prestigious University of Lagos to study Creative Arts.
During his final year at the university, he was the President of his department’s student association after he transitioned from his previous position as Public Relations Officer (P.R.O). He graduated from UNILAG in 2023.
He won the following awards before graduating from the University of Lagos in 2023; UNILAGCASA Artiste of the Year 2023, UNILAGCASA Song of the Year 2023 (Reason), UNILAGCASA Finalist of the Year 2023, and FASAUNILAG Award of recognition 2023.

His musical journey began when he was inspired to make beats and started learning music production from his producer friends; Coco Blvk and Husky during one long ASUU strike. He remembers being motivated to catch a vibe on one of the beats by a friend, Spiritual Gospel during a recording session with friends at his crib, this made him realize he had a hidden talent for music and since then, he has seen making music as a calling and has shown more interest and dedication over time.
He dropped his debut single, REASON on December 23rd, 2022, while he was still at the University, and dropped PAPER on September 29th, 2023 after graduating from UNILAG.
He draws musical inspiration from his environment, happenings, experiences, imaginations, and thoughts, and his sound is greatly influenced by musicians such as Wizkid, Olamide, Burna Boy, Asake, Bnxn, and 21 Savage, to mention a few.
SLY is currently signed to his label, New Castle Entertainment and he has a lot of projects coming up for the listening pleasures of his fans.
