Wizkid Honored By BRIT Awards For Setting New Afrobeats Record In The UK

Nigerian superstar, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has become the first Afrobeats singer to achieve a remarkable milestone in the United Kingdom.

The British Phonographic Industry music award body honors the sensational musical artiste for his latest achievement in Britain.

The owner and frontman of Starboy Entertainment recently performed, headlining a concert at London’s 62,850-seat Tottenham Stadium, making him the first and only African performer to do so.

On Monday, July 31, 2023, the official Brit Awards Twitter page announced that the Afrobeats superstar had won the prestigious Brit Billion Award for accumulating an astounding one billion streams in the United Kingdom. Its tweet stated:

“It’s one billion UK streams for @wizkidayo, who was presented with his BRIT Billion Award while in London for his incredible show at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.”
